The Secret Of Nightingale Wood by Lucy Strange.(My First Book Review!)

My name is Autumn. I live in Somerset and am nine years old.

The first book I am going to review is a book called The Secret Of Nightingale Wood by Lucy Strange.

It is 1919. Henrietta has a mentally ill Mother, an abroad working Father and a busy Nanny Jane. She misses her brother, Robert. With only her sister and books for company, she focuses on discovering her new home, Hope House. But she discovers some of the secrets of her scary, new home; a long forgotten attic, ghostly figures gliding around the hallways at night and a strange firelight that flickers in the distance. One cold night she ventures out into Nightingale Wood and discovers something that will change her forever...

This book was published in 2016 and is a Chicken House product. The genre of this book is modern fiction.

Lucy Strange worked as an actress, singer and storyteller before becoming a secondary school English teacher. She lives in Kent with her husband and her cat. The Secret Of Nightingale Wood is her first novel.

My favorite paragraph of this book: I saw that it was not a piece of paper at all, but an old torn photograph -a picture of a young woman in a smart nurse's uniform. Instead of smiling directly at the camera,  she was smiling at a little boy sitting next to her. I took the photograph and studied the young woman`s face. It was her Moth. Page 69.

I enjoyed this book because it is adventurous and inspiring. This book made my bite my nails and believe me, I barely ever do that! I enjoyed the characters because they were brave and did things  I could have ever done! Your reading ability must be over 10 to read this book. (My reading ability is equal to a thirteen year old.)

Available in most book shops. £6.99 UK.
